Charge only when completely drained, charge for the recommended time and you will have no issues. They last well and have held up well so far (over a year).Only downside is the long charge time (20 hours) but you just have to be vigilant and be sure to unplug the charger. I was able to get this for less than $5 shipped and it has been amazing. I use the four batteries for my Wii remotes and they hold a decent charge. For those people complaining about the batteries not lasting, they probably have not taken care of the batteries.
The batteries can be dramatically overcharged and may well explode. After that the charger was thrown away. There's no automatic shutoff. They were too hot to touch when I unplugged the charger.
It is inexpensive to buy but a piece of garbage that doesn't work and you have to watch. Honestly, I wouldn't even give this a one star rating. I would not waste your money. I've done that for about 2 weeks trying to charge the batteries and I still haven't gotten the "green lights". It takes forever (at least a week) to charge batteries and you have to watch so it doesn't overheat. This is absolutely worthless. I watch it like a hawk and leave it plugged in when I am home and unplug it when I leave for work. This is one of those "you get what you pay for" items.
Feel I got my monies worth. It does not shut off automatically. Found this item to be of adequate quality for the money. One drawback. You will have to remind yourself to remove from the receptacle within 24 hours or the batteries and unit will become hot.
Batteries charged ok and work with no problem.I bought it for the batteries (great price for AA's) inspite of some negative review for the charger. I did not encounter any problems with the charger as others did.
